Chaim Arlosoroff was a brilliant socialist zionist in post-WWI Berlin. This session will examine his rise to prominence, the huge dilemmas that he faced, negotiations with the Nazis, and his untimely end. His assassination still divides the Jewish world today.

Trudy Gold was the CEO of the London Jewish Cultural Centre and a founding member of the British delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). Throughout her career she taught modern Jewish history at schools, universities, and to adult groups and ran seminars on Holocaust education in the UK, Eastern Europe, and China. She also led Jewish educational tours all over the world. Trudy was the educational director of the student resources “Understanding the Holocaust” and “Holocaust Explained” and the author of The Timechart History of Jewish Civilization.

Because of the Haavara Agreement. Because that’s what he was accused of doing. Now, he was accused of making a deal with the devil. That’s why the Revisionists were accused. But the latest evidence, it was either at the time, another Arab already in jail confessed then retracted the confession. And then you’ve got the Goebbels evidence. Wouldn’t it make an extraordinary film?

I’m afraid there are so many. There were many, many books that deal with this period. I can’t recommend one. You see for this lecture, I think I’ve referred to at least 20.
