Summary

This presentation will focus on the proto-Zionist novel “Daniel Deronda”, written by one of Victorian England’s greatest authors, George Eliot. It had great influence on both the Jewish and non-Jewish reading public.

Disraeli, the charismatic conservative politician, was also one of the most popular novelists of the nineteenth century. In his writings he glorified both Jews and Jewish history. This session will also focus on the characters he created and his motivations.
