The USA and the Rise of Nazism

Thursday 11.01.2024

Summary

The Great Depression and consequent unemployment led to a rise in antisemitism in The United States. Fuelled by events in Germany, America produced its own homegrown Nazis. Jews, again, became the scapegoats of various organisations and powerful individuals such as Joseph Kennedy and Father Charles Coughlin, the radio demagogue, who by 1934 had a listening public of tens of millions.
