On 29th May 1453, a pivotal moment in history occurred. Constantinople, the centre of the Byzantine Empire also known as ‘The City’, collapsed, giving rise to the Ottoman Empire from its ashes.
William Tyler
William Tyler has spent his entire professional life in adult education, beginning at Kingsgate College in 1969. He has lectured widely for many public bodies, including the University of Cambridge and the WEA, in addition to speaking to many clubs and societies. In 2009, William was awarded the MBE for services to adult education, and he has previously been a scholar in residence at the London Jewish Cultural Centre.
Because that particular part of Islam has been emphasised rather than the other part. And it’s been emphasised because it’s been created by an anti-colonial view against Western Europe and since ‘48 against Israel. That’s why nobody’s saying it’s right, but that’s why.
