Patrick Bade
Exploring the Marais, Part 1

Sunday 8.09.2024

Summary

In the first of two lectures exploring the historic Parisian district of the Marais, we look at two museums housed in aristocratic mansions. The Musée Cognacq-Jay is like a miniature version of the Frick or the Wallace Collection and displays paintings and furniture collected by the proprietors of the department store La Samaritaine. The Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature offers a magical meditation on the relationship between man and the natural world with works of art from different periods.
