William Tyler
Four Slave Rebellions, Part 4: Nat Turner and the United States

Monday 30.09.2024

Summary

Of all the instances of historical slavery, none is as grim as the transatlantic slave trade, which brought so many Africans to the Americas under unimaginably inhumane conditions. Despite the sheer numbers of Africans enslaved, there are few instances of organized rebellion. In this presentation, we will look closely at Nat Turner’s Revolt of 1831 through his own memoir and other fascinating historical sources.
