Summary

In 1993, Tate launched its third museum, Tate St Ives, situated on the edge of an Atlantic surfing beach in West Penwith Cornwall. This museum’s collection celebrates works by experimental modern artists like Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Peter Lanyon, and Patrick Heron who lived and worked in the St Ives region between the 1940s and 70s. This presentation explores the history and curatorial approaches of Tate St Ives with insights into some of its most exciting exhibitions. It will also present a selection of works by key artists for more in-depth discussion.
