Ireland and Israel: The Demise of an Uneasy Diplomatic Relationship
Summary
In the 45 years before Israel opened an embassy in Dublin in 1993, Ireland’s attitude towards the Jewish state was not an easy one. For the last 10 years, and especially since 7 October, 2023, Irish politicians, the media, religious leaders, and the Irish cultural circle have used increasingly anti-Israel rhetoric, culminating in Israel’s decision to close the Dublin embassy. In this talk, we will explore how we got to where we are.
