Go behind-the-scenes with Scott Rothkopf, Alice Pratt Brown Director of the Whitney Museum, for a ‘virtual tour’ of Edges of Ailey – a landmark exhibition and ‘extravaganza’ celebrating the life, dances, influences, and enduring legacy of visionary artist and choreographer Alvin Ailey. This session will also explore the Whitney’s recent Free Admissions programs as a case study in broadening access and the power of free in creating a more inclusive audience.

Scott Rothkopf was recently appointed Alice Pratt Brown Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art. Rothkopf’s incredible career with the Whitney began in 2009 as a curator, and he has held numerous leadership roles, including Chief Curator. With a deep dedication to the art world, Rothkopf has curated over a dozen acclaimed exhibitions, such as Jasper Johns: Mind/Mirror and Jeff Koons: A Retrospective, while also publishing extensively on contemporary art. An accomplished scholar, he holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in art history from Harvard University and has shared his expertise as a guest critic, lecturer, and panelist at many prestigious institutions.
