Sunday 30.03.2025

How to watch

This lecture starts on 30 March at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

For many opera lovers, Wagner’s associations with the Third Reich is an impediment to the enjoyment of his operas. Those associations can be lessened by hearing his operas in languages other than German. In this talk we shall hear Wagner sung in French, Italian, Russian, and Catalan, with the added advantage of bel canto technique, smooth vocal emission, and some of the most beautiful voices of the twentieth century.
