Professor David Peimer
Lord of the Flies
Summary
Professor David Peimer offers a look at the main ideas of “The Lord of the Flies”, primarily being our propensity for savagery. It’s obvious in the context of war or crimes, but in this lecture he also dives into the psychological savagery and cruelty in the day-to-day world that we all know, that we’ve all done, and that are a part of being human. Additionally, he reflects on the somewhat jarring coincidence of discussing a book like this on the 11th of September and what can be drawn from that.
