Manchester-born Jeremy Rosen was educated at Cambridge University England and Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem. He has practiced as an orthodox rabbi, as principal of Carmel College in the UK, and as professor at the Faculty for Comparative Religion in Antwerp, Belgium. He has written and lectured extensively in the UK and the US, where he now resides and was the rabbi of the Persian-Jewish community in Manhattan.

In theory, yes. In theory and it is very similar to the United States, but it also indicates, as in the United States, there were rival states, rival communities. And so the Jews were never united. People think, “Oh well, the good old days when we were united.” We were never united. We were always tribal, or if not tribal, communally, rivalry, it’s always been there.
