Patrick Bade
Romantic Visionaries: Blake, Fuseli and Palmer
Summary
In this lecture, Patrick Bade discusses a group of eccentric artists based in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries—William Blake, Henry Fuseli, and Samuel Palmer. This period is seen as a crucial time in Western history, characterized by overlapping revolutions like the American, French, and Industrial Revolutions, as well as the Enlightenment and Romanticism movements. In art, there was a shift from Neoclassicism to Romanticism, which is reflective in these three artists.
